Hi, my name is Inger! I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and founder of Foundations Family Nutrition (Foundations), which is a medical nutrition center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts that caters to individuals and entire families. We are well known in the greater Boston area and are a preferred provider for many large medical practices. Our services are typically covered by insurance companies. Foundations is the backbone behind FamilyNutritionTalk.com.
What is FamilyNutritionTalk.com? The purpose of this site is to help parents, families, and teens work through all of the challenges that arise while achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. We produce a daily podcast, which you can listen to on FamilyNutritionTalk.com or iTunes, that answers questions we receive regarding family nutrition and weight management. Inger, a Registered Dietitian specialized in family nutrition and weight management (see About page), hosts the podcast. The recordings are family friendly and the language is sensitive to even the youngest of ears.
Who is this site for?
- Families with children of all ages struggling to achieve or maintain a healthy weight
- Families who would like to be super fit, have high energy, and maintain healthy weights
Here is how it works:
- Ask Inger your questions using the form below. Questions can be on how to help your child achieve a healthy weight or on general advice regarding daily nutrition or weight struggles. You can also call in your questions by leaving a voicemail at 617-297-2717. If you call in a question, we will use your voice on the podcast unless you tell us not to so. Please do not use your last name, and feel free to be anonymous or make up a fake name.
- Inger will answer your questions in a future podcast, which you can listen to for free either on this site or on iTunes.
Why consider listening to the podcasts? This environment is a safe place for you to ask a nutrition professional questions related to nutrition or weight without fear of judgment. Also, hearing a real person’s voice answer your questions establishes a better relationship between us and your family. Listening to the questions and answers of other parents or kids may also help to keep you motivated as well as educated on how to be successful. The best part is that every family has their own formula for success, so you can listen and figure out what works best for your family.

- Getting our book or CD on how to achieve a healthy weight by eating healthfully (see Store)
- Arranging for an appointment with us at Foundation Family Nutrition in person if you live in Massachusetts (typically covered by insurance) or set up a nutrition consultation by phone. Call 617-577-0020 for more information.

Talk to you soon!
What is a good cereal? My kids don’t like the healthier cereals and I end up throwing them away. I give them the high sugar cereal so that they will at least eat something in the morning. Thanks Sharon, mom of 3 kids between ages 4-12.
Hi Inger, Thank you for doing this site. We love coming to see you in Cambridge and are lucky to have you so close. We just got back from vacation and won’t have a chance to come in before school starts. Tommy is starting the 1st grade and I would love to know what would make for a perfect packed lunch. Thanks!
